LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Shahid Aslam, a former first-class cricketer, as the batting coach of the Pakistan men’s cricket team a few days before the tour of Zimbabwe.

A PCB spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday that Aslam will work as full-time batting coach with the national team.

Moreover, the spokesperson said that a bowling coach will be appointed in Pakistan soon as the board management was looking for a coach.

This development has come at a time when Pakistan is suffering from more dismal than proud performances in cricket. The recently concluded T20 International series against Australia, which Pakistan lost 3-0, was particularly painful as its memories are seared in the mind.

Earlier, sources familiar with the developments said that newly appointed interim white-ball coach Aqib Javed had recommended Aslam for the position.

Aslam spent a number of years working as a support staff for the Green Shirts. The white-ball tour of Zimbabwe will be his first assignment, before a full tour of South Africa.

The first ODI between Pakistan and Zimbabwe will be played on November 24 (Sunday).

Pakistan ODI lineup for Zimbabwe: Amer Jamal, Abdullah Shafiq, Abrar Ahmed, Ahmed Danial, Faisal Akram, Haris Rauf, Haseebullah (West K), Kamran Ghulam, Muhammad Hasnain, Muhammad Rizwan (West K), Muhammad Irfan Khan, Saim Ayyub, Salman Ali Agha, Shahnawaz Dhani and Tayyab. immaculate.
