The International Cricket Council (ICC) has instructed the meeting participants including Pakistan and India to reach a solution regarding the fate of the 2025 Cricket Champions Trophy after the neighboring country announced that it will not travel to the host nation.

The sources said Geographic News The crucial ICC board meeting, which was held virtually, lasted just about 15 minutes and was attended by officials from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

During the meeting, the parties presented their proposals regarding holding the prestigious tournament, with the Board of Directors instructing the parties to find a solution through “mutual consultation.”

The sources added that the two cricket boards will find an option “acceptable to all” with the help of the ICC.

“A logical option for the Champions Cup will be explored in the next 24 to 48 hours,” they said, adding that the boards would give their final opinion after consulting their governments.

The decision comes amid ongoing disputes between Pakistan and India.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has strongly opposed the hybrid model where matches against India will be played at a neutral venue.

The Chinese People’s Congress has communicated its firm position to the ICC, with its president, Mohsin Naqvi, saying: “We will bear setbacks, but not at the expense of our dignity.”

The Program Coordination Board has reportedly finalized most of the arrangements for hosting the event and requested an acceptable solution before the ICC meeting.

However, India’s refusal to play in Pakistan still creates hurdles, leaving broadcasters concerned about potential financial losses.
