Women’s Health GP at Harley Street GP Clinic, General practice in LondonDr. Elise Dallas shared her tips for longevity. She explained the best steps you can take to add extra years to your life.

She said: “My nutritional non-negotiables include green vegetables as well as my daily kefir or kombucha. Kefir and kombucha can be wonderful additions to a healthy diet.

“They provide probiotics, support gut health and offer potential benefits for digestion and general well-being. Including these fermented foods in your diet can bring positive changes.

Fermented foods have been shown to improve health and digestion, as well as improved immunity and increased weight loss.

Dr. Dallas also recommended trying intermittent fasting, which is an eating pattern that changes between eating and fasting periods.

Dr Dallas said: “As a GP, I have found intermittent fasting to be a fascinating approach to maintaining good health. It has been linked to various health benefits, including reduced inflammation, improved brain function, and enhanced cellular repair processes.

The doctor explained that some studies prove that intermittent fasting is an effective measure for people, but reiterated the importance of talking to your doctor before trying any of these measures.

Dr Dallas advised: “Some studies suggest it may have a positive impact on longevity, although further research is needed to fully understand these effects. It is important to note that intermittent fasting is not suitable for everyone, especially those with certain medical conditions or nutritional needs.

“So it’s always best to consult a healthcare professional before starting any new dietary approach to ensure it fits your individual health goals and needs.”
