The Indian Cricket Board is reluctant to accept Pakistan’s proposal to hold all International Cricket Council (ICC) matches between the arch rivals at a neutral venue for three years, it has been claimed. Indian Express Tuesday.

The development comes two days after the ICC began considering a “partnership formula” in a bid to end the deadlock over hosting the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, according to sources.

Sources said that as per the new format, India will play all its matches in the ICC World Cup, which are supposed to be held in Pakistan, in Dubai, and Pakistan will also play its matches, scheduled to be held in India, in Dubai.

The formula will be applicable for the next three years starting from the 2025 Champions Cup, they said, adding that it is expected to put an end to the issue of scheduling and venue of the Champions Cup tournament.

Sources said that under the new format, India and Pakistan will not play any tournament in each other during this period.

They said that it was proposed to add this formula to the host agreement for both teams.

However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is unlikely to accept the proposal, claiming that there are no security issues in India, Indian media have claimed.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sought written assurances from India, but if the latter does not give one, the ICC will decide the Champions Trophy issue.

According to sources within the PCB, neither the ICC nor the BCCI have yet been contacted regarding the proposal. With the Pakistani proposal being discussed, it is expected that discussions will take place within two or three days.

The tournament, which is scheduled to be held in Pakistan next year, has become a bone of contention between Pakistan and India, as BCCI refused to send its team to Pakistan, citing security concerns despite assurances.
