  • The International Criminal Court meeting was postponed to December 7 in Dubai.
  • The PCB insists the hybrid model is not suitable for the Champions Cup.
  • A “partnership formula” is under study to end the stalemate.

The main meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC), scheduled to be held today (Wednesday) to discuss hosting the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan, has been postponed again before it even begins as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The sources said they “rejected the formula” proposed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Geographic News.

The sources revealed that the meeting was postponed due to India’s failure to respond to the solution proposed by Pakistan to the issue. The meeting is now scheduled to take place on December 7.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Dubai this morning with high hopes for the crucial meeting, during which the future of the tournament, scheduled to be held in Pakistan in February-March 2025, is set to be discussed.

Sources also said that the BCCI also rejected the Coordination Council’s proposals, leaving the impasse unresolved.

Subsequently, GCC sources sent a clear response to the ICC: The meeting should be held only when a final decision is necessary, and India’s position must be clarified first.

It is worth mentioning here that the upcoming Champions Trophy tournament is on hold after the BCCI refused to send its team to Pakistan, while the PCB remained firm on its stance opposing the hybrid model of the eight-team tournament.

However, in the latest turn of events, a new model, dubbed ‘partnership formula’, is under consideration to end the deadlock between PCB and BCCI.

Under the new format, Pakistan will also not play its matches in India during ICC events for the next three years. Dubai is likely to be the neutral venue for both teams as per the expected new agreement.

India is scheduled to host three ICC events during this time period, including the 2025 Women’s World Cup, co-hosting the 2026 T20 World Cup with Sri Lanka and the 2027 Champions Trophy.

Details were also shared that the apex cricket body advised the BCCI to accept the above-mentioned model, in a bid to avoid legal action by Pakistan and also to resolve the issue without voting.

If the proposed format is mutually agreed, a Board meeting may not be required and the apex cricket body will inform the Board Members of the developments.
