KARACHI: Development work at the National Stadium in Karachi is progressing rapidly as part of a major upgrade project aimed at transforming the stadium ahead of the Champions Trophy.
Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi inspected the ongoing work on Wednesday, reviewing the almost completed steel-framed building.
Key developments include the installation of new LED lights on the stadium’s pillars to enhance visibility and preparations for a laser light show aimed at ensuring an unforgettable experience for spectators.
Elevated electronic screens are placed to ensure an unobstructed view for fans throughout the matches.
The project also includes relocating parking facilities near the stadium to improve accessibility and building new spaces within the building.
In addition, plans to create a trench between the seating area and the ground are intended to enhance crowd management and security.
During his visit, Naqvi stressed the importance of maintaining high quality standards while ensuring the project is completed on schedule.
“We must match speed of business with excellence,” he noted, urging all stakeholders to focus on timely delivery.
Officials from the Frontier Works Organization (FWO), which is leading the construction efforts, updated Naqvi on the progress of the renovation work.
PCB Infrastructure Director and National Stadium Director were also present during the inspection.
These upgrades are part of the PCB’s broader initiative to enhance cricket infrastructure across the country, ensuring that Pakistan is well prepared to host high-level international tournaments.
