- Mohsin Naqvi vows that PCB will not disappoint the nation
- The ICC says to announce the final decision.
- ‘Any impact’ in ICC will impact world cricket: PCB chief.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed optimism about “better decisions” for the 2025 Champions Trophy despite the postponement of the crucial session of the International Cricket Council (ICC) scheduled for today (Saturday).
“Discussions are ongoing, but I will not comment on anything at this time,” Naqvi told a press conference during his visit to the Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) stadium earlier today.
He added that Pakistan has played a positive role and will continue to do so.
Naqvi said the PCB will not disappoint the nation and will reveal the details after the “final decision” on the next major ICC tournament which is scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan in February next year.
“The ICC must take a decision and will announce it,” the PCB chief said. He went on to say that some of the reports circulating in the media “are not based on facts.”
“We are trying our best to achieve something better for Pakistan and international cricket.”
Responding to a question regarding the equal treatment of the international cricket body with all boards, Naqvi replied: “If the ICC makes progress it will lead to progress in cricket across the world and similarly, any decline in the ICC will impact world cricket.” However, I hope that we will see improvement.”
The sources said Geographic News That the ICC meeting was postponed due to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) not responding to the demands made by the PCB.
Pakistan is defending its case in the ICC over the long-running dispute over the venue of the much-anticipated 2025 Champions Trophy after India refused to send its team to Pakistan.
A day earlier, sources claimed that Pakistan and India had made a “breakthrough” on the event’s venue a day earlier, agreeing to play their matches at neutral venues for ICC tournaments hosted by either side.
Sources added that Pakistan and India are also involved in the ongoing discussions, with the ICC also being part of the talks, with the aim of finding a solution and finalizing the schedule for the tournament – which has been redrawn due to the hybrid model.
Issues discussed by stakeholders include those related to logistics.
The sources indicated that the International Criminal Court meeting will be held as soon as the cases are completed at the executive level.
In addition, they also emphasized the progress made in the backdoor dialogue and said that the issues are close to being resolved.
They added, “Things have begun to progress positively (…) and the International Criminal Court is expected to issue an announcement soon.”
