ISLAMABAD: The 2024 Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games concluded on Thursday with Punjab securing first place in the week-long sporting event at the Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad.
With an unparalleled tally of 173 medals, including 78 gold, 53 silver and 42 bronze, Punjab surpassed its rivals to assert its dominance in the national sporting arena.
Punjab athletes performed excellently in various disciplines, leaving their competitors lagging far behind.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa team ranked second with 98 medals, including 29 gold, 31 silver and 38 bronze. Al-Sanad took third place with 79 medals, including 16 gold, 28 silver, and 35 bronze.
Balochistan came in fourth place with 62 medals, including 14 gold, 16 silver and 32 bronze. Both provinces showed commendable skills and determination, indicating a bright future for their athletes.
Islamabad, the host city, gave a strong performance in various categories, concluding the Games by winning 56 medals, including 6 gold, 11 silver, and 39 bronze.
Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) also contributed to the competitive spirit with showcases of promising talent. Gilgit-Baltistan won 2 gold, 2 silver and 18 bronze, with a total of 22 medals. The Al Jazira team won 26 medals, including gold, 5 silver, and 20 bronze.
The Quaid-e-Azam Games, where 516 medals were awarded in several events, were a testimony to Pakistan’s rich sporting talent and the spirit of unity among its provinces.
