In the world of politics, appearances can be just as crucial as policies, and Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert has made headlines not only for her policy positions, but also for her distinctive fashion choices. In recent years, Boebert has frequently donned what she calls “country chic” outfits, in an effort to connect with her constituents. However, some of her fashion attempts have raised eyebrows and sparked conversations, particularly her most recent ensemble during the June 2024 Republican primary victory celebration.
After securing his spot to represent his district, Boebert delivered a spirited speech at RainDance National Golf Course in Windsor, Colorado. “2024 is when we take back Colorado and when we take back our nation,” she told a cheering crowd, embodying the spirit of a candidate ready to fight for what she believes in. For this important occasion, she chose a sleek black dress that suited her figure well. However, it was her choice of footwear that really caused a stir.
Boebert paired her little black dress with high-heeled leather cowboy boots adorned with an American flag motif. The brown leather boots featured stunning red and white stripes across the top, complemented by a large white star, while the foot of the boot featured a blue panel patterned with white stars. The ensemble was a bold nod to her patriotic personality, further accentuated by her signature glasses and loose, curly hair. Interestingly, Boebert chose to forgo the traditional cowboy hat, perhaps to focus on his striking shoes.

But the evening didn’t stop there. She later dramatically changed her wardrobe, swapping her flag-themed boots for a pair of gold sneakers bearing former President Donald Trump’s name, paired with a white MAGA hat. This change raised eyebrows, especially since Boebert openly admitted that the sneakers were knockoffs. “They’re very (made in) China, but that’s OK with me,” she told Westword, showing off her light-hearted approach to her fashion choices. While she claimed to be on good terms with Trump, it seems that he did not send her a new pair of shoes for the occasion. “He congratulated me; he loves me,” she added, revealing her enthusiasm for the former president’s support.
Boebert’s attempts to connect with voters through his fashion choices have not always gone smoothly. After her primary victory, she again donned her American flag cowboy boots during a meeting with voters in July. This time, she paired the boots with a white, long-sleeved doily-style dress, topped with a cowboy hat to further enhance her country appeal. A few weeks later, she was spotted in another public appearance wearing the same boots with a brown acid-wash dress adorned with pom-poms. In a spirited display of patriotism, she posed for a photo holding an American flag while standing next to a supporter.
Boebert’s foray into the Western world is not new. In September 2023, she attempted a more casual look at the Summer Mountain Man Rendezvous in Fort Garland, Colorado. Wearing a simple black T-shirt and blue jeans, she added a black cowboy hat decorated with red, white and blue strips of fabric, complete with a mini American flag attached to the band. This casual approach was another attempt to connect with his rural voters.

In May of the following year, Boebert was again seen wearing a farmer’s hat at the Elbert County Meat-in event. This time, she opted for a tight T-shirt and zip-up sweater paired with tight blue jeans, ditching her cowboy boots in favor of high heels. “No one here is transitioning to ‘lab’ meat, only real meat for Coloradans!” she tweeted, hoping to resonate with her base and emphasize her commitment to traditional values.
While Boebert’s sartorial choices have certainly made her a recognizable figure, they have also sparked discussions about the authenticity and effectiveness of using style as a political tool. Whether her outfits succeed in convincing voters or simply provide fodder for social media commentary, one thing is clear: Lauren Boebert knows how to express herself, both in politics and in fashion.
