RIYADH: Tammy Abraham’s stoppage-time goal turned a remarkable turnaround as Milan beat Inter Milan 3-2 in a thrilling Italian Super Cup final in Riyadh, overturning a two-goal deficit early in the game.
Inter took the lead through Lautaro Martinez at the end of the first half, then Mehdi Taremi doubled the lead two minutes after the end of the first half.
Milan reduced the gap after five minutes, as Theo Hernandez scored a direct goal from a free kick, and Christian Pulisic equalized ten minutes before the end. The match seemed ready for a penalty shootout until Abraham stunned Inter by scoring a late winner.
The win denied Inter what would have been an unprecedented fourth consecutive Super Cup, and allowed Milan to equal Inter’s run of eight wins in the competition.
