PSL unveils star-studded exterior Platinum ahead of player draft – Aitrend

KARACHI: The Pakistan Super League management on Wednesday announced a stellar squad of 44 foreign players registered in the Platinum category for the upcoming player draft, scheduled to be held on January 13. The list includes the best international cricketers from eight countries, adding to the excitement ahead of the tournament. The tenth edition of the league.

New Zealand batsman Kane Williamson, the second-highest run-scorer in T20Is for his country, tops the list alongside Tim Southee, the all-time leading wicket-taker in T20 internationals.

They are joined by New Zealand stars Adam Milne, Darryl Mitchell, Finn Allen, Jimmy Neesham, Mark Chapman and Michael Bracewell, providing an attractive line-up for the six PSL franchises.

Australia boasts the largest representation, with 13 players in the Platinum category. The squad includes T20 World Cup 2021 winners Ashton Agar, David Warner and Daniel Sams. Usman Khawaja, who played for Islamabad United in the 2021 season, is also among the big names.

Mujibur Rahman and Naveen ul Haq of Afghanistan, along with Sam Billings and Timal Mills of England, both former PSL champions, add to the depth of the group. South Africa is represented by veterans Imran Tahir, Rassie van der Dusen, Reza Hendricks and Tabraiz Shamsi.

Sri Lanka T20I captain Sharith Asalanka and Kusal Mendis join the fray, while West Indies’ Jason Holder leads a group of six Caribbean first-class players. From Bangladesh, veteran activists Mustafizur Rahman and Shakib Al Hasan completed the platinum list.

“We are delighted to announce an exciting 44-strong group of overseas platinum selections for the 2025 HBL PSL Player Draft,” said Salman Naseer, CEO of PSL. “Along with the Pakistani stars, we have a fantastic pool of talent available. All eyes are now on January 13 when the final teams for the six franchises will be decided.

Nusair expressed his thanks to all the players who registered their interest, stressing the importance of the historic tenth edition of the league. “No matter what happens on draft day, I sincerely thank all the players and wish them the best of luck,” he added.

The draft will finalize the squads for the franchises as the PSL gears up for its signature season, which is set to captivate cricket fans across the world.
