LONDON: Pakistani top-order pacer Saim Ayub said he plans to work hard on his rehabilitation to be fit in time for the Champions Trophy in a few weeks.
talking to Geographic News In London, when Ayoub was asked if he thought he could be fit for the upcoming Champions Cup, he said: “I will do my best and so will the doctors who are working with me but I can’t say anything for certain.”
“I have no idea what the estimated recovery time is,” the aggressive hitter said. “I will do my best.”
Ayub, one of Pakistan’s mainstays in the batting order, suffered an ankle injury while playing on the first day of the second Test against South Africa in Cape Town.
Following the injury, Ayub was sent to London by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for medical treatment. He has been in London for two weeks, meeting with doctors and physiotherapists.
He said Geographic News“I ask everyone to pray for my physical fitness. My call to prayer is for everyone.”
When asked about his last two centuries and the Pakistan batting team’s increasing dependence on him, the star player said: “I don’t agree that the entire team is dependent on me. It is not one member who makes the team; the entire team is important and every player is important and important.”
Ayoub was examined by two renowned orthopedic surgeons in London, Dr David Redfearn and Dr Lucky Jeyaseelan. He also visited two physical therapists who are known to be experts in the fields of trauma treatment.
Ayoub confirmed that he will soon travel to Dubai as soon as he obtains the visa.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi supervised Ayub’s health, ensuring he received first-class medical care.
The PCB chief said that Ayub is a stylish batsman and an asset to Pakistani cricket.
“Sim will be ensured treatment in the best hospital in the world and all resources will be used for his treatment. We are hopeful that the left-handed batsman will make a full recovery before the ICC Champions Trophy.
