KARACHI: Pakistani adventurer Samar Khan has successfully climbed Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in South America, with a height of 6,961 meters (22,837 feet).

Khan said on Instagram that she began the climb with an amazing team of nine strong women at 4:15 a.m. and reached the summit of South America’s highest peak at 2 p.m.

“The climb was full of challenges, the biggest of which was the extreme cold and harsh winds in the Andes,” Khan said. “But thanks to God and your prayers, I completed the climb successfully.”

Located in Argentina’s Andes mountain range, Mount Aconcagua is the tallest mountain outside Asia and one of the Seven Summits.

According to experts, Aconcagua is one of the most accessible of the Seven Summits, serving as a challenging experience for mountaineers and a stepping stone to higher peaks.

Khan, known for her dual passions of cycling and mountaineering, is the latest Pakistani to conquer the massive peak. Other notable climbers from Pakistan include Abdul Joshi, Saad Munawar, Asad Ali Memon, Abdul Jabbar Bhatti, Samina Baig and Mirza Ali Baig.

It has now returned to Mendoza after its completion and plans to land in Islamabad on January 19.
