James announced his split from Rachel in the early hours of Thursday, January 16 via Instagram.
“Father, give Rachel and me the strength to mend our broken hearts. Give us peace about this decision to end our relationship that is beyond earthly understanding,” James wrote alongside a photo of him and Rachel on The Bachelor season 25.
Referring to Rachel in the post, James added: “Shower our friends and family with kindness and love to comfort us. And remind us that our joy comes from you, Lord 💔.”
James chose Rachel as the winner of The Bachelor during Season 25, which aired in early 2021.
