Notre Dame football coach Marcus Freeman He’s never been shy about declaring his love for his support system off the field: his wife Joanna Freeman.
Marcus and Joanna married in 2010 after they met while Marcus was a star linebacker at Ohio State University. Along the way, they welcomed six children together: a son Vinniegirl SienaMy son GinoMy son Nicogirl capri And his son Rocco.
Before being named head coach at Notre Dame in December 2021, Marcus’ coaching journey took him everywhere — from his alma maters at Ohio State and Kent State to Purdue and four seasons at the University of Cincinnati as the school’s defensive coordinator.

Marcus celebrated the couple’s ninth anniversary with a post Via Instagram.

During his introductory news conference after being named head coach at Notre Dame, Marcus took time to mention Joanna as he concluded his remarks.
“Finally, there’s some thanks I’d like to give you,” Marcus said. “I want to start with my wife, Joanna. My wife, my partner, thank you for being selfless. Thank you for always being there and supporting me most of the time. You can be my harshest critic, but thank you for being there.”
