Lloyds Banking Group must close 136 other branches.
The largest British mortgage lender said that it would close 61 Lloyds, 61 Halifax and 14 Sites of the Scotland Bank between May of this year and March 2026.
All workers affected by closures would be offered alternative roles, said the group.

Lloyds has blamed the customer movement which moves away from banking services in person in the use of online services, which means that there is less need for physical sites.
He made this announcement just a few weeks after making the decision to allow his customers to access on -site services in one of the group’s brand branches.
Lloyds also revealed the planned closure of two large offices – in Liverpool and Dunfermline – affecting more than 1,000 employees.

A spokesperson said: “More than 20 million customers use our applications for access to demand for their money and customers have more choice and flexibility than ever for their daily banking services.
“In addition to our applications, customers can also use the telephone bank, visit a community banker or use any Halifax, Lloyds or Bank of Scotland branch, giving access to many other branches.
“Customers can also do their daily banking services in more than 11,000 branches from the post office or in a banking center.”
The major banking brands of the United Kingdom have closed the Pace branches since the fallout from the financial crisis in 2008, which aroused a rush to cost reduction.

The closing plan revealed Wednesday bringing the Lloyds brand to 386 branches, Halifax to 281 branches and Bank of Scotland to 90 branches once finished.
Activists have long argued that the rate of closures has been too fast to allow alternatives, such as bank poles, to fill the void.
The elderly are the least likely to put themselves online while rural communities have been particularly hard affected by the loss of banking services.
Bank centers are physical sites where services are shared.
In September 2024, there were 76 across the United Kingdom, although this number was set at more than double in a few months, according to Cash Access UK.
