Ewan Venters, the former Fortnum & Mason chief, joins the board of directors of Paul Smith Ltd, the best known design company for his striped fashion clothes.
Sky News understands that Mr. Venters, who recently resigned as a boss of the Global Contemporary Art Gallery Hauser & Wirth, has agreed to become a non -executive of Paul Smith – whose eponymous founder remains strongly involved in the company.
Mr. Venters, who also supervised the acquisition of artfarm from the London Groucho Club during his visit with Hauser & Wirth, remains the president of the private sector of the Great Government campaign.
He was also recently appointed member of the soft Power Council chaired jointly by the secretaries of foreign affairs and culture, and is a director of the King Foundation.

Paul Smith Ltd, founded in 1970, sold a large minority participation in Itochu, his Japanese license partner in 2006.
Mostly known for its men’s clothing, the company has diversified in other areas of fashion and lifestyle design.
“Ewan joins us at a pivotal time for the company, while we consider a number of key strategies to shape the future of our special brand,” said Sir Paul Smith, president and founder.
He added that “the vast experience in the retail, hotel and culture sectors will bring a new welcome perspective on what we do”.
Mr. Venters supervised a period of record performance during his eight years in Fortnum, before he held management positions at Selfridges.
He received an OBE in 2024 in the King’s honors list in 2024 for international trade services.
