Karachi: Once again, FIFA suspended the Pakistani Football Association (PFF) after he refused to adopt the changes recommended by FIFA in the PFF constitution.
According to the FIFA announcement, PFF was immediately suspended due to its failure to adopt a PFF’s review that would really guarantee fair and democratic elections, and thus meet their obligations according to FIFA as part of the PFF.
The statement said: “The suspension will only be raised according to the PFF conference, which approves the issuance of the PFF constitution submitted by FIFA and AFC.”
FIFA and AFC PFF have recommended amendments to its current constitution. The proposed amendments to the sentences related to the electoral process were to be brought in. However, the elected conference from PFF rejected these amendments.
This is not the first time that PFF has a comment. In April 2021, FIFA commented on the unjustified third -party intervention, a violation of FIFA laws. This suspension was raised in June 2022 after FIFA received an assertion that the PFF normalization committee has regained full control of the union’s buildings and was running its financial resources.
Despite these efforts, challenges continued. In recent months, FIFA is pushing for constitutional amendments within PFF to facilitate fair elections and appropriate governance. However, the PFF conference was hesitant to adopt these changes, which led to the current comment.
The comment means that Pakistan’s teams are prohibited from participating in international competitions until the issue is resolved and PFF will not receive any help from FIFA.
Earlier in the day, the PFF Normalization Committee, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, said that due to the stalemate between FIFA and the newly -elected Congress at PFF, the International Football Association may suspend Pakistan “conditional”.
The President conveyed development while briefing the Standing Committee of the National Association for Coordination between provinces (IPC). He said this would lead to the loss of Pakistan at least its international participation and the suspension of FIFA’s financial support for PFF.
Malik said: “FIFA wants some amendments to the PFF constitution to match international standards. In recent efforts, the majority of the newly elected PFF members did not agree on FIFA proposals,” Malik said.
He also informed the permanent committee of the electoral process within PFF from the level of the boycott onwards and informed that all the elections were completed and the members of the elected Congress will supervise the next stage.
Malik also highlighted that, for the first time, PFF participated in the 2023 Olympic qualifiers and advanced to the second round. The committee has estimated the efforts of the National Union in strengthening football at the Olympic level.
