Canada has reported a very pathogenic epidemic H5N5 The avian flu on a non-commercial backyard poultry farm in the east of the country, the World Animal Health Organization said on Tuesday.
The propagation of avian flu, commonly known as bird flu, ravaged herds around the world, disturbing the offer and supplying higher food prices. Its propagation to mammals, including dairy cows in the United States, has raised concerns among governments concerning a risk of human transmission.

Analysis of the H5N5 virus detected in the province of Newfoundland and the Labrador of Canada showed that it was similar to that of the H5N5 which had struck Canada in 2023, said the Paris Woah in a report, citing the Canadian authorities.
He also showed that it was linked to the H5N1 line (2.3.4.4b) which affected certain farms in Canada and spread to other parts of the world, mainly in the United States and Europe.
