KFC leaves Kentucky.

The fast food giant, formerly known as Kentucky Fried Chicken, moved its headquarters to Texas during an upheaval announced earlier this week.

Started by Colonel Harland Sanders, Kfc will be based in Plano, Texas, in the future.

About 100 corporate employees will be moved over the next six months, said Yum Brands, the parent company of KFC, which also owns Taco Bell and Pizza Hut.

In recent years, other companies have also moved to Texas, a popular destination thanks to its low -tax policies and businesses, according to a 2023 report from the CBRE investment company.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear quickly responded to the news.

He said: “I am disappointed with this decision and I think the founder of the company would also be.

“The name of this company begins with Kentucky, and it has marketed the heritage and culture of our state in the sale of its product.”

Yum Brands said this decision was part of wider plans to set up two brand seats in the United States – in Texas and Irvine, California.

KFC and Pizza Hut will be based in Texas and Taco Bell and Habit Burger & Grill will remain based in California, said the company.

Yum Brands and KFC will keep offices in Louisville.

“These changes position us for sustainable growth and will help us to better serve our customers, employees, franchisees and shareholders,” said Yum Brands, David Gibbs, in a statement.
