
Karachi: Lance Dom, the British Deputy Commissioner of the High Commissioner in Karachi, expressed his disappointment from the early exits of England and Pakistan from the International Champions Cup of the International Criminal Court 2025, but he praised Pakistan’s efforts to host a “wonderful championship”.
In an exclusive interview with Geo NewsDom shared his ideas in the championship, the power of uniform crochet, and his plans to explore Karachi during his term.
The ICC Champions, the first ICC event to take place in Pakistan after 29 years, brought teams and fans from all over the world to the country. However, the tournament witnessed disappointing shows from Pakistan and England, who were eliminated early.
England, despite its exit, will play its final match against South Africa in Karachi.
Dom admitted that he was disappointed by the early exits of his favorite team. “I know, it’s a wonderful shame. I was hoped for the Pakistan-England final. But unfortunately, it won’t happen.”
He added: “I think it is a matter of confidence. I am sure that England and Pakistan will return as the difference as the difference again.”
He also participated in his experience in watching the raw Pakistan match in Karachi. “I was in the Pakistan New Zealand match. It was a brilliant hosting. The stadium was great. The atmosphere was great. Unfortunately, the result did not go the way we were hoping.”
Dom praised Pakistan to organize the tournament amazingly. He stressed that despite the field results, the event was successful. “Although the teams (Pakistan and England) do not care well, I want to congratulate Pakistan on organizing a wonderful tournament,” he said.
“The Cricket game culture is a special thing. We have a common passion, Pakistan and England, for Cricket. It is a great way to combine people,” said Dom, with highlighting the role of sports in gathering people together.
He referred to the intimate friendship between fans from different countries, especially between Pakistan and England. “This is what I really noticed in this championship.
He also talked about his childhood memories of watching the legendary, legendary, Pakistani rapid archer, Wassim Akram, dominating the fighting squad in England. “As you know, when I was a child, I watched the cricket game on TV and my first memory is to destroy the cricket teams in England. It was great,” he remembered with a smile.

As the newly appointed Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi, he has always expressed enthusiasm for exploring the city and strengthening trade and investment relations between the United Kingdom and Pakistan. “One of my big followers is commercial investments. We have a lot of commercial investments in Pakistan and the United Kingdom already $ 60 billion per year. We will try to increase this more.”
He also participated in raising the famous kitchen in Karachi, although he admitted that the spices were a challenge. “It’s a little hot for my usual taste. But do you know what? I will get used to that over time. I already had some wonderful Karachi food during my presence here, which is famous around the world. He said, laughing:” Food is really amazing. ”
The role of fans of sports, and Dom revealed his love for tennis and football, expressing his intention to participate in local sports activities during his stay in Karachi. “I hope to do the Karate half a marathon next year,” he said.
