Madrid: Real Madrid won a minimal 2-1 victory over their competitors in the city of Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League at last 16 on Tuesday.
Julian Alvarez went to Atletico after Rodrigo sent the hosts forward, but Brahim Diaz dismantled the winner of his victory over 15 times to delight the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
“I think we played a full game today, (my goal) was good and we got the victory, but it did not end,” Diaz told Movistar.
“There is still the second station and we have to give everything, as we did today.”
Diego Simon Atletico, who lost in the 2014 and 2016 finals against their bitter competitors, kept the stars Vinicius Junior and Killian Mbappe calm but still short.
Rojiblancos has played as safe in the final stages, and it seems that they accept their faults in the same goal for Derby Clash at home next week.
“For a moment, we had the game under control, but we knew it would not be an easy match, because they were at home and they had great players,” Alvarez said.
“But we know that there are 90 minutes to go … it’s one goal, and another game, at home with our fans.”
