We usually think about the network notes as a form of creative overlap, which is a way for some suffocating executives in tampering with our favorite programs and reducing the creative vision of the show. but, X. Unique in the history of television for the number of notes from the network that ended up making the offer better without limits. For example, it was a note from the Fox that led to the fan “Tooms” of the fan of the Walter Skinner and made a cigarette smoking to speak for the first time.
Walter Skinner and a man of cigarette smoking
Given the extent to which they become part of the narrative DNA of the width, it is almost impossible to imagine X-Files Without Walter Skinner or a cigarette smoking man. In the end, Skinner asks the other man if he believed that Scoli’s report on Mold’s final confrontation with TOMS (the latter is killed by weapons chains), and CSM simply responds with “of course.”
While “Tooms” was the first episode to show Walter Skinner, it was not the first episode that shows a cigarette smoking, whose original appearance appeared in X.The first episode. However, “Tooms” was the first time that we heard this isolated character that spoke, and the producers at that time spoke that they did not even know that the actor William B. Davis (whose personality previously had to stand around them looking for a threat). Once he reads to his lines, they were quite happy with what he brought to his brochure to the show.
By the way, while no one opposes that “TOMS” is the first episode in which Walter Skinner appears, some fans argue about whether this is the first time that a man of smoking cigarettes has spoken or not. This is because the CSM representative William Davis shows as an agent talking about the Central Intelligence Agency in the first episode in the first season “Young At Heart”. Fandom is generally divided into whether this impersonates the CSM (something we know he did before) or whether Davis, who was mostly glorious in the first season, simply plays a different part.
like X-Files Fans know that it is almost impossible to exaggerate the importance of Walter Skinner and a man of cigarette smoking to the rest of the chain. But if they have not received a positive reaction from the fans yet “TOMS”, none of them became a major player. This means that we may only owe some of the greatest episodes and stories of the future that involve these characters to Fox, all because the network was gently reminded of the bidder Chris Carter about the need to focus on a constant conspiracy story amid his increasing love for monster stories per week.
