Verat Kohli welcomed the Indian star to include the Cricket game in the Los Angeles Olympics for the year 2028, and although the Indian Great will not be convinced of retirement for symbols, he believes that a new generation of Indian athletes will be ready to strike gold.
Cricket game returns to games more than a century after the proposed Twenty20 coordination for men and women in Los Angeles.
Kohli, 36, who retired from the shortest coordination of sports last June after the World Cup victory in India, said that international tournaments around the world played a major role in raising the image of this sport and making sure it is shown in games.
“It is a great thing, I mean, when I heard the news that I was really happy with,” Cole, who continues to play 50 years and test the India’s cricket, said during the RCB.
“This has happened, and I played the amount of Cricket T20 game that played all over the world, and the championships that are played all over the world, and the Indian Premier League (IPL) has definitely played a big role in that as well.
“I got the cricket game on the stage where you are part of the Olympic Games. It is a great opportunity for some athletes to be able to taste it.”
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) said in October 2023 that the inclusion of the cricket game for the first time since the 1900 games had the ability to activate and involve the new fans, as the base of fans around the world is estimated at 2.5 billion people.
With millions of followers around the world and on social media, Kohli’s presence in the games had played a major role in strengthening this sport.
But the striker, who continues to play T20 with Royal Challeners Bengaluru at IPL, said there is a little opportunity to return to the national team in coordination.
“I don’t know,” Cohli said with a smile.
“No, but I think it’s great. Olympic champions will be a completely great feeling. First of its kind and I am sure we will be somewhere near that.”
