Madrid: Novak Djokovic suggested that he may have played in Madrid open for the last time.

The champion was three times in the second round on Saturday, and lost to Matteo Arnaldi Italy. After the defeat, the Serbian star admitted that he was not sure whether he would return to the championship.

Arnaldi defeated Djokovic 6-3 6-4 to reach the third round. The result condemned the 37 -year -old, who received goodbye to the opening round, for his third consecutive defeat.

Djokovic, who was chasing a hundred round title, won a shock in the Miami Open Final in late March before leaving Monte Carlo in the second round earlier this month.

All three defeats came in straight groups.

“It is clear that I lost a match that you don’t feel satisfied, but I had a few this year when I lost in the first round, unfortunately,” Djokovic told a news conference.

“I think the positive thing is that I enjoyed myself more than I was in Monte Carlo or some other tournaments, so this is a good thing.

“But it is clear that the level of tennis is still not the place I want to be. But this is what it is. I lost to a better player.”

Djokovic, who first achieved in Madrid in 2006 and won the championship in 2011, 2016 and 2019, was looking for his first victory over Clay since Carlos Alcaraz defeated to win gold in the Paris Olympics.

When asked if he had played his last match in Madrid, Djokovic said: “It might be so. It might be so. I am not sure if I am going back. So, I don’t know, I don’t know what to say.

“I mean, I will return, maybe not as a player. I hope it is not the case, but it can be.”

Djokovic won three of four major titles in 2023, but he was unable to reproduce this type of model since then, as they closed from the largest game championships last year as Janek Senner and Carlos Alcaraz have claimed specializations.

“(It is a kind of new reality for me, I must say. You know, in an attempt to win a match or matches, I don’t really think about going to the tournament,” Djokovic added.

“It is a completely different feeling from what I had in 20 years of professional tennis, so it is difficult for me to face this type of sensations on the field, and get out early now in the championships.

“But this, I think, the circle of life and the profession, will eventually happen.”

The first number in the previous world has the ATP Masters 1000 score for most victories (414), semi -finals (79), finals (60) and addresses (40).
