The Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) transferred the Men’s Championship for Men from Pakistan to Uzbekistan after India was martyred in security concerns and withdrew from this event.

The decision was completed during the CAVA annual meeting held in Nepal on April 25, after the April 22 incident in Paalgam, which sparked regional safety concerns.

It is scheduled to be originally in Islamabad, the tournament was about to be a major moment to develop volleyball in Pakistan.

However, with the government of India canceling a non -objection certificate (NOC) to participate, and other member states that express similar reservations, Cava decided to change the championship to ensure smooth behavior.

CAVA official confirmed that the dates – from May 29 to June 4, 2025 – will remain unchanged, as Tashkent, Uzbekistan will now host all matches.

After changing the place, India confirmed its participation.

While Pakistan maintains its position in the competition alongside Iran, India, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, this step is a blow to its aspirations to become a reliable host of international volleyball events.

Earlier, India withdrew from the upcoming Central Asian volleyball championship in Islamabad, citing political tensions after the April 22 attack in Bahjam, IIOJK, which killed 26 people.

The Volleyball Federation in India earlier confirmed a team of 30 members, but the Ministry of Union Sports advised to withdraw.

Despite the exit of India, the 29th June 4 championship will continue with four teams, including Pakistan and Iran.

The organizers say that the absence of India will not significantly affect competition, indicating the previous modest offers of the team.
