Because of the continued political tensions with Pakistan, the Asian Cup is unlikely to occur this year, to be held in India.
According to reports, the Cricket Control Council in India (BCCI) decided to withdraw from the Asian Cup and the Asian Women’s Cup, citing the role of Pakistan leader in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) as a reason for his refusal to participate.
The 2025 Asian Cup for September in India is scheduled to be held, while the women’s emerging Asian Cup is scheduled to happen in June in Sri Lanka. However, BCCI has orally informed the Administrative Coordination Committee of its withdrawal from the Women’s Championship, and the upcoming events of the upcoming ACC have developed, according to the Indian media.
The sources say that BCCI has not officially transferred its withdrawal to ACC, but internal deliberations and coordination with the Indian government are continuing.
An unpredictable BCCI official was quoted as saying: “The Indian team cannot participate in a championship headed by a Pakistani minister,” referring to Mohsen Naqafi, who is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pakistani Cricket (PCB) and the chairman of the Asian Cricket Council.
India is the Asian Cup defender, where it won the previous edition. Reports indicate that BCCI’s decision has political motives, arising from the growing tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad in recent months.
Earlier this month, India coach Gotam Gamper said he personally believed that India should not play any cricket game with Pakistan, not even in neutral places, after a deadly attack in Indian Jamo and Kashmir (IIOJK) last month.
Dual -directional cricket between nuclear armed neighbors remains suspended since 2013 and only play each other in multi -difference championships, most of them in neutral places.
“My personal answer to this is no,” Jamir said on Tuesday, hours before India was released from unjustified air strikes in Pakistan, when he asked him for his view of the Indian Pakistani cricket game.
“So that all this does not stop, there should be nothing between India and Pakistan.”
Any game between the bow competitors is still a group of cricket and is announced to be sold within hours after the tickets were sold.
The Men’s team in Pakistan toured India in the Fiftieth World Cup in 2023, but their neighbors did not reciprocate.
India has refused to take a tour in Pakistan to obtain the Champions Cup earlier this year and play all its matches in Dubai instead.
Jamir said that he would follow, whatever the Indian Cricket Council (BCCI) or the government decide the bilateral cricket with Pakistan.
“In the end, this is the (decision) of the government, whether we played it or not,” Jamir said.
“This is not up to me, this is not in my specialist. This is intended for BCCI, and most importantly, the government decides whether we should play it or not.
“Whatever the decision they make, we must be well with him and not forget him.”
Last month, the Indian star Niraj Chopra withdrew his call to the Pakistani Olympic champion, Arshad Nadim, to compete at the May 24 event in the southern city of Bangaluru after the Valgam attack.
