The paramount American media group agreed to pay $ 16 million (11.6 million pounds sterling) to settle legal action brought by Donald Trump for what he alleged was a misleading interview with former vice-president Kamala Harris.
The case involving a functionality on CBS News, which belongs to Paramount, was criticized as a challenge to freedom of expression.
Paramount looked for a resolution with Mr. Trumpwhose administration must approve the merger proposed by the company with Skydance Media – but the regulations did not involve an apology.
Trump’s lawyer said the president had undergone a “mental anxiety” in the face of the change in the interview, which was broadcast in October on the program of CBS 60 minutes during the electoral campaign.
The money will go to the future presidential library of Mr. Trump and not directly to the 79 -year -old American leader.
Paramount and CBS had rejected the assertion of Mr. Trump according to which the interview was modified to improve the way in which Ms. Harris had struck and wanted the trial to be rejected.
Mr. Trump, who did not agree to be interviewed 60 minutes during the campaign, protested against clips showing Mrs Harris Give two different answers to a question from interviewer Bill Whitaker.
The separate clips were broadcast over 60 minutes and face the nation.
CBS said that the two responses were part of Mrs. Harris’ long response and that the clip was published to be more succinct.

The president’s lawyer said it had caused confusion and was misleading for voters.
The case was closely monitored by the defenders of press freedom and CBS journalists, whose lawyers called the trial “completely without merit” and undertook to fight it after its deposit.
The Freedom of the Press Foundation, a media defense group who says that it is a primordial shareholder, promised that he would file a prosecution in protest if a settlement was concluded.
