LAHORE: The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has released a promo to announce the highly anticipated Players Draft event for its upcoming 10th edition – scheduled to take place on January 11, 2025.
Taking to social media, the league released a 26-second promo with the caption, “The countdown has begun.”
The video showed different TVs revealing when the next players’ draft would be.
Meanwhile, sources claimed that another meeting will be held later this week to discuss matters related to the next edition of the league.
Details were also shared that the registration process for local and foreign players will also begin this week.
Last week, it was reported that the six franchises proposed holding the player draft for PSL 10 abroad, either in England or Dubai, to increase the league’s popularity.
The franchises have also pressed on to rope in high-profile foreign players for the upcoming edition, especially those who went unnoticed in the recent mega auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
In response, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed the inclusion of famous players from abroad.
The franchises also asked the PCB to provide financial assistance in selecting the best foreign cricketers.
Moreover, the teams’ representative also requested the PCB to contact the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for the participation of English players in the next edition of the PSL.
Recall that the ECB has decided not to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to national cricketers for participation in overseas leagues that conflict with the domestic season.
The decision is likely to lead to a significant decline in the participation of England players in the English Premier League, the next edition of which will clash with their domestic season due to the 2025 English Men’s League Champions Cup.
Notably, the upcoming 10th edition of the PSL is set to be played in conjunction with the cash-rich IPL for the first time since its inception in 2016.
The PSL, which is usually held in the February-March window every year, will be held between April and May next year, a window that rival league IPL has already secured.
The change in schedule came in the wake of Pakistan hosting the Champions Trophy, scheduled to be held during the regular league window next year.
