President Trump dismissed the director of the Consumer Financial Protection Office, Rohit Chopra, in the last purge of an administrator of Biden.
Chopra was one of the most important regulators in the previous democratic administration that was still in office since Trump took office on January 20. In a letter to the president shared on social networksChopra said it was an “extraordinary privilege” to serve as director of the CFPB.
“With so much concentrated power in the hands of a few, agencies like the CFPB have never been so critical,” he wrote. “I am proud that the CFPB has done so much to restore the rule of law.”
