Sao Paulo: Brazilian football legend Ronaldo announced that he withdrew from the race to become president of the country’s football federation, saying that he lacks the necessary support from regional federations.

The winner of the winner twice on social media wrote: “After publicly announced my desire to be a candidate for the CBF presidency during the upcoming elections, I formally withdraw this intention.”

“If the majority of those who have the ability to decide that football is in honest hands, it does not matter what I think,” he said.

The 48 -year -old said in December that he wants to take the Brazilian Football Association colleagues (CBF) to address the “deep crisis” facing sport at the national level.

However, the winner of the World Cup twice said that 23 of 27 regional federations represent the various states of Brazil refused to listen to his proposals.

Instead, he said they expressed their “support for his re -election” to current President Edinaldo Rodriguez in 2026.

Rodriguez was criticized for criticism of temporary coaches to the national team after the departure of Tate after the quarter -finals of Brazil at the 2022 World Cup while waiting for Carlo Ancelotti’s arrival.

This has never been achieved, as Ancelotti decided to stay with Real Madrid, as Doriev Junior was eventually appointed at the beginning of last year.
