Pepco, listed in Warsaw, confirmed in March that he planned to explore a sale of the company, Teneo hired to advise on an auction.

Last year, Poundland recorded around 2 billion euros in sales.

It employs around 18,000 people.

Earlier this year, Pepco, which is also negotiating as Pepco and Dealz in Europe, said Poundland had experienced sales of 7.3% during the Christmas negotiation period.

In a commercial declaration that accompanies him, Pepco said that Poundland had undergone “a more difficult sales environment and a backdrop for consumers in the United Kingdom, in parallel with margins pressure and an increasing operating cost environment”.

“We expect the most difficult comparative quarter for Poundland to be behind us – the same quarter of last year has represented a period prior to the modifications made in our clothes and GM (general merchandise) Ranges – and therefore, we expect negative sales performance for Poundland to be moderate as we progress throughout the year.”

He added that Poundland would not increase the size of his store portfolio on a clear basis during this year.

Alteri, who is supported by the global investment giant, Apollo Global Management, refused to comment.
