Speaking before her visit, Ms. Reeves said: “The world has changed and we are in a new era of world trade. I have no doubt that the taxation of prices will have a deep impact on the world economy and the economy at home.
“This changing world is disturbing for families who are concerned about the cost of living and businesses concerned about what the prices will mean for them. But our task as government should not be eliminated or take reckless measures that may undermine people’s safety.
“Instead, we have to get up to meet the moment and I will always act to defend British interests as part of our change plan.
“We need a global economy that provides stability and equity to companies who wish to invest and exchange, more commercial and global partnerships between nations with common interests and security for workers who want to continue their lives.”
