The EQT Partners’ investment giant explores a purchase offer from the promoter of the World Rally Championship (WRC) as an auction promoting the company to nearly 500 million sterling pounds which finally withdraw from the starting grid.

Sky News has learned that the EQT based in Stockholm is part of a number of buyout companies preparing to bid for WRC PROME, which holds the commercial rights of the WRC and the European rally championship.

The two series are sanctioned by the FIA, the warning body of the World Motorsport.

A promoter’s sale has been on the cards since last summer, when the reuters news agency reported that the bankers of JP Morgan had been hired to supervise an auction.

The WRC promoter belongs to the Behemoth Red Bull and KW25, a German investment company.

After five laps in the WRC 2025 series, the championship ranking is led by the British pilot Elfyn Evans.

The next race takes place in northern Sardinia, Italy, later this week.

The EQT has not been among the most prolific investors in the investment capital industry in sport-related assets, but in recent months, it has intensified its interest in the sector.

He recently participated in Baller League, a six -year -old football format that has Gary Lineker among his donors, and was one of the auction of commercial rights on the German Bundesliga in 2023.
